Leveling Up My Jeep TJ: A Barnes 4WD Long-Arm Suspension Install

Leveling Up My Jeep TJ: A Barnes 4WD Long-Arm Suspension Install

Hey everyone!

As some of you know, I’ve been itching to seriously upgrade my 2003 Jeep TJ’s suspension. For months I’ve been researching the best options for improved articulation and handling on the trails. After a lot of deliberation (and some serious YouTube-bingeing), I decided to go with the Barnes 4WD 3-link front and 4-link rear long-arm suspension system. https://barnes4wd.com/products/jeep-wrangler-tj-and-lj-3-link-front-and-4-link-rear-long-arm-suspension-system

I’ve already received a significant portion of the kit, and I’m seriously impressed with the quality of the components. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and everything looks incredibly robust – exactly what you’d expect for tackling serious off-road terrain. Seriously, the attention to detail is fantastic. I’ll be sure to include some close-up photos in later updates.

This is a pretty involved project, so it’s going to be a phased install. I’ll be tackling it in stages, fitting the work around my other projects and commitments. Expect updates on my progress here on the blog, with plenty of pictures and maybe even a timelapse or two. My goal is to document the entire process transparently, from unboxing and pre-assembly checks to the final alignment and test drive (which, naturally, will involve some serious mud!).

My next post will focus on the initial unboxing and parts inspection. I’ll share my detailed thoughts on the kit’s components, and maybe some helpful tips to anyone planning a similar upgrade. Then, we’ll move on to the installation itself, and I’ll detail the process step by step. Stay tuned, and let me know if you have any questions or want me to focus on any specific aspects of the install in my future updates!

In the meantime, check out Barnes 4WD’s website; they’ve got a seriously impressive selection of Jeep parts and accessories. For those who are thinking about upgrading their own Jeep TJ or LJ, definitely take a look!
